The Philippines, 1902. A land still bleeding from war — raw, wounded, occupied. Smoke clings to the trees. Blood seeps into the soil. The fighting has ended, but the violence has not. Villages echo with grief, widows fill the streets, and mothers disappear into silence.

Among them wanders Sisa (portrayed by the legendary Hilda Koronel), barefoot and broken, dismissed as mad by those who fear what they cannot understand. But her madness is only the mask. Beneath the rags and ramblings lives a woman with a mission — a spy, a survivor, and a mother stripped of everything but rage.

Haunted by visions she cannot silence, Sisa quietly rallies women who, like her, have been pushed to the margins. Together, they become an invisible force — a resistance born not from power, but from pain. As betrayal coils around her, Sisa walks the knife’s edge between memory and madness, asking what it takes to rise when the world has already buried you.

A Cinematic Return

After the international acclaim of About Us But Not About Us, acclaimed filmmaker Jun Robles Lana returns to Tallinn with Sisa — a sweeping historical thriller infused with intimate emotion. Featuring a powerful, long-awaited comeback performance by Hilda Koronel, the film is both a gripping tale of vengeance and an urgent elegy to a nation’s silenced women.

A Landmark Premiere

Sisa will have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival this November in Tallinn, Estonia.

“I’m immensely proud to share that our film, Sisa, starring the legendary Hilda Koronel, will have its World Premiere in the Official Competition at the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival this November. It took an extraordinary team to bring this film to life, and I am deeply excited for them, and the world, to finally see it.”
— Jun Robles Lana

“With Sisa, we explore the mothering of a nation — the fierce, necessary commitment to teach our people how to resist and survive.”
— Jun Robles Lana

SISA is a haunting elegy and a call to remembrance — a film about grief, resistance, and the quiet revolutions born in the hearts of women who refuse to be silenced.

SISA is a story of memory and madness, of resistance and rebirth — a cinematic reminder that even in silence, women can ignite a revolution. - CIELOMAR
